Daniele De Rossi sees “a completely different Roma” and praised Rudi Garcia with a veiled reference to Zdenek Zeman.
The midfielder spoke to journalists after a 1-0 victory away to Bologna on Saturday evening.
“I don’t know if Juventus will start to drop points now or if it’ll be a spectacular end to the season, but we just need to win and hope they and Napoli drop points.
“You can tell it’s a good season from lots of little things. In the summer with those who arrived, winning the derby in Week 4, the fundamental victory in Udine, the run of results after our defeat in Turin.
“It is already impressive that we are so close to a team that was constructed to destroy all competition in the League.”
Roma ran a huge risk in stoppages at the Dall’Ara when Lazaros Christodoulopoulos turned a free header wide from six yards.
“We sent out a message that this is a completely different Roma,” continued De Rossi on Rai Sport.
“In the past these games have been turning points and we tended to fall apart, but not this time. I saw a team that is focused and very strong. Don’t forget Napoli drew here a few weeks ago.”
De Rossi was asked to describe Coach Garcia and it was hard not to see a veiled reference to former Giallorossi tactician Zeman in his reply.
“The first word that comes to mind is ‘normal.’ That might not seem like a compliment, but it is. He’s not over the top, he doesn’t have weird ideas in his head. That’s a good thing, as he decided to build on a team that was already strong.”
