Edy Reja was irritated with Lazio’s “timid approach” in Catania and confessed they deserved to lose.

The Aquile had been unbeaten in Serie A since the Coach replaced Vladimir Petkovic over Christmas, but were crushed 3-1 in Sicily by the bottom of the table club.

“We didn’t underestimate this test, as we knew they would be aggressive, but we were too timid in our approach,” Reja told Sky Sport Italia.

“Catania deserved the win, as we got our approach completely wrong. In the first half I was fairly satisfied, as Stefano Mauri made his first start and gave us a sense of balance, but the second half was not a good performance.

“Miroslav Klose? He works hard, but is lacking intensity at the moment. I hope everyone in this squad can give something more. It wasn’t the performance I was expecting.

“When we went behind the first time, we were able to fight back and create chances, but after the second goal we produced nothing.

“Now we have to put this game behind us and look forward to the Europa League, then Sassuolo” data-scaytid=”15″>Sassuolo. We must keep this performance in our minds so we can learn from it.”
