Dodo has mused on how a win against Lazio in the Rome derby could give Roma the boost in confidence for the second part of the season.

Week 23 sees the Giallorossi face off against the Aquile on the Sunday afternoon, with Roma the nominal away side for the encounter at the Olimpico.

“A derby is always important,” defender Dodo has mused to reporters this week.

“The win the first stage of the season helped so much in giving confidence to the team, we hope that this return derby will help us in the same way.

“The expectation as favourites? We are used to playing with this pressure and I have faith that mister Garcia will handle everything better.”

Dodo is out with a thigh injury that will likely only be recovered from come mid-March.

“I will suffer to see the derby as a spectator, I’d love to play,” reflected the 22-year-old.

“I am focused on recovering as soon as possible so as to help the team. I do not know yet if I will go to the stadium, [the other day] I could not come in because I had to stay at home to do recovery work. I want to go there, but I still have to think about it.

“The midweek game with Napoli? I wanted to play such an important and beautiful game.

“The final goal gives us that advantage, so far we have only lost one game, so we have to be hopeful for the return leg in the Coppa Italia semi-final.”
