“We are thinking of ourselves, but the Giallorossi are not so far away,” Hamsik has admitted in conversation with +N this week.
“Then Fiorentina? Their midfield I love so much, and Anderson will contribute a lot to them. At Roma most of all I like Pjanic, I have followed him for some years.
“Second place is our goal, it is essential to skip the preliminaries to qualify directly for the group stage of the Champions League.
“Roma have something extra? The team is doing very well, I honestly did not expect this.
“Last year, after 20 rounds, Juventus had 45 points, but unfortunately this year they are elusive – 12 consecutive wins is something extraordinary.
“A few years ago Napoli completed a 14-game unbeaten run and then that was something very important.
“The Scudetto? Objectively, that is difficult. Juventus would have to go wrong in a lot of games and we cannot drop any more points.”
The 26-year-old reflected on his development at the Stadio San Paolo in recent years.
“Until last year I had always played as a left midfielder, the most profound change has been this year with Benitez, but overall I have always gotten on with everyone.
“Perhaps with Mazzarri I was better because he is the Coach who stayed longest with us.
“Am I sorry for how things are going for him at Inter? Yes, I’m sorry for the Coach, but not for Inter.”
Hamsik has continued to attract transfer links away from Napoli, despite declaring his intentions to stay put.
“I repeat for the umpteenth time, so long as I am happy and important for this project, I will be here. Currently I am not thinking of a change. I want to play another 200 games with this shirt.
“I do not know if I am a leader, I am not someone who talks so much. It is not shyness, I think that from this point of view, though, I can still grow.”
