Urby Emanuelson has mused that for Milan’s planned tactical reshuffle under Clarence Seedorf to work, everyone must help in defending.

Seedorf debuted as Coach with the Rossoneri on Sunday evening and introduced a formation switch from 4-3-2-1 to 4-2-3-1.

With one less body in midfield, the side’s nominal left-back yesterday has issued a message to his more attack-minded teammates.

“Even Robinho and Kaka will have to lend a hand to defend,” Emanuelson has told Sky Sports.

“I understand that they are attackers and do not like to defend…but we have to defend with everyone, even with them.”

The Dutchman was talking after yesterday’s 1-0 win at San Siro against Verona.

“I used to play with Seedorf and now he is my Coach. We are pleased with this victory, it was not easy.

“We had a good first half, the second a little less. We will now continue work.”
