George Weah has urged Milan’s players to focus on their football and to ‘prove their worth’, as he backs Clarence Seedorf to be a hit.
The Rossoneri are set to appoint their former Dutch midfielder to the bench this week, on from sacking Massimiliano Allegri after a miserable first half to the League season ended with defeat at Sassuolo.
With the team currently in 11th spot in Serie A, their former No 9 has urged those in the dressing room to stand up and be counted.
“To return to the high levels, I believe that first everyone has to come down from the clouds, return to playing with the ball and not the paparazzi or the other nonsense that is in fashion,” Weah has told Milannews.it today.
“It is the time to sweat more for the shirt because they have much talent, but I do not see that hunger to devour their prey like a lion.
“They have to prove their worth as players, otherwise it is useless.
“Seedorf as Coach? He is a great player, he has plenty of experience having won everything. It would be really interesting to see him in the role of Coach.
“Even as a player he has been able to motivate and drag the group. He may be the right Coach for this Milan of young players.”
The Liberian was asked of the potential for another of his former teammates, Paolo Maldini, returning in some capacity to the club also.
“It would be fair, either as a Coach or a director. I would love someone like Maldini or Seedorf there, they are great teammates and captains and know what the Milan shirt means.
“They fought many battles with very great success.”
