Martin Montoya’s agent has confirmed that the defender’s first priority is to renew his contract with Barcelona.

The young defender has struggled for playing time this term under new boss Tata Martino. And as such, has attracted attention from the likes of Roma and Arsenal.

However, his representative has confirmed that the Blaugrana full-back wants to stay at Camp Nou.

However, his representative has confirmed that the Blaugrana full-back wants to stay at Camp Nou.

“Martin’s contract expires in June 2014,” Jose Maria Orobitg told LaRoma24.it. “Obviously, the first option is to negotiate the boy’s contract with Barcelona.

“Montoya wants to reach an agreement with the Blaugrana.

“The boy’s calm – this club is his first choice. Only if an agreement is not found will we look arounf.

“England and Italy have two of the best Leagues in Europe. And I can say that many European clubs have asked after Martin – including Serie A sides.”
