“I was meant to go away with my family, but a week wasn’t long enough to prepare for the game with Juventus, so I stayed behind,” the Morocco international told L’Equipe.
“The Coach had planned out a training regime for the festivities, but I returned to Trigoria earlier than expected to train with my other teammates.
“It was a small sacrifice that could pay off with interest against Juventus. I am trying to do my best in a great team.
“I’ve scored four goals already this season, but I don’t consider myself the best defender in Italy. I can do so much better.”
