Massimiliano Allegri complimented his hometown club Livorno, but blasted Milan for their “lack of determination.”

The Rossoneri were held to a 2-2 draw at the Stadio Picchi, having first taken the lead and then gone behind.

“I compliment Livorno because they put in a very good performance,” the Coach told Sky Sport Italia.

“We showed a lack of determination and it is difficult to win a match like that. We conceded the second goal from a throw-in and that is not good enough.”

Mario Balotelli bagged a brace and hit the crossbar late on with a stunning strike from 30 metres.

“Balotelli had a great game and when he plays like that he is difficult to mark. He should’ve had better support, not so much in terms of passes as in attitude.

“Both M’Baye Niang and Mattia De Sciglio did well down the right flank, but we paid a heavy price for the mistakes in defence.

“We’ve got to understand that if we don’t match our opponents in terms of determination and intensity, then our quality won’t make the difference.”

Milan need a point against Ajax on Wednesday to qualify for the Champions League knockouts.

“Ajax are putting together some great results and have excellent technique throughout the team. We must face them in the best way possible and above all score goals.”
