Milan Vice-President Adriano Galliani says the club will buy in January, while he insists Mario Balotelli and Stephan El Shaarawy are staying.

The Diavolo have had a sluggish start to the season and Galliani insists they’ll look to remedy their problems after Christmas.

“We have very clear ideas about the transfer window,” he stated at Malpensa airport ahead of the Champions League tie at Celtic.

“We’re looking for a defender and a wide attacker.”

The official was inevitably asked about Balotelli amidst rumours that he turned up late for training for the second day in a row this morning.

“I don’t know anything about it. Training was at 11.30, he got there before 11. I don’t know what time they were supposed to meet up – you’ll have to ask the Coach.

“Is Balotelli unhappy? He will stay, I’m 101 per cent certain about that. He’s our centre-forward, it’s just one of those moments.”

The Rossoneri – thirteenth in the table – have had their injury problems this season too, but a trio of men are on the mend.

“Stephan El Shaarawy is improving, as are Giampaolo Pazzini and Mattia De Sciglio,” Galliani commented.

“Last season El Shaarawy kept us upright until Balotelli arrived. Unfortunately we haven’t really had El Shaarawy or De Sciglio this season.

“El Shaarawy is staying as well,” he added. “A well-known Coach from abroad rang me up to ask for him and I politely said no.”
