Roberto Donadoni hailed Parma for their surprise victory at Napoli and people “cannot ignore” Antonio Cassano.

The Coach spoke to Sky Sport Italia after a 1-0 win at the San Paolo, sealed by FantAntonio.

“When we play with this intensity, we can achieve a great deal in any arena. In the past we perhaps lacked that extra bit of determination and grit that can turn a result one way or another.

“I was really impressed with the players and especially Walter Gargano, who had to play the final minutes with a probable thigh strain.

“I have to praise everyone, as the team really earned this victory and deserved this night in a wonderful stadium.”

Cassano’s stunning performances for Parma have inevitably raised questions about whether he should be recalled for Italy’s World Cup squad.

“If Cassano keeps playing like this, then he does deserve a call-up. It’s impossible not to notice what he is doing at Parma, but at the same time he is helped by the team and Jonathan Biabiany’s assist helped put him in the position to score.

“He is the icing on the cake and the player who can make the difference, but an individual can do little by himself and he is starting to understand that.

“I’ve been telling the players for months that they have to believe in themselves more, as if they play together then the opposition has to give extra to beat us.”
