Chievo forward Cyril Thereau has revealed that this Saturday’s Verona derby won’t be as intense as others he’s played in around Europe.

The Flying Donkeys travel to their bitter city rivals Hellas this weekend in the first meeting between the two for over a decade.

But the French forward has insisted that nothing compares to another city clash he’s been involved in.

“Honestly, I expected more tension in the city,” he told Corriere di Verona. “But perhaps I’m only saying that because I’ve played in a Bucharest derby.

“That was an amazing thing.”

The veteran striker was also complimentary to another ageing goalscorer.

“Luca Toni? I think he’s an example to follow. It will be quite the challenge coming up against him.”
