His future is up for debate amid rumours this will be his final season at San Siro and he commented on some of the options.

He could take over as one of the organising forces in Milan President Silvio Berlusconi’s party Forza Italia.

“I am truly very fascinated by the idea of entering into the world of politics,” Galliani told the media.

“However, I am at Milan now and I don’t think that at this moment I could listen to other proposals.

“I will not choose another opportunity while I remain general manager of Milan, then we’ll see what happens afterwards.”

Another report has Galliani going to Paris Saint-Germain to replace Leonardo as director of sport.

“No, I could never join PSG. It would be like an American secret agent defecting to Russia….”
