Massimo Ambrosini doesn’t think his Fiorentina side are ready to win the Scudetto – not yet anyway.

The Viola, who finished fourth last term, are presently in fifth place – eight points behind leaders Roma and four shy of the Champions League zone.

“In order for us to win the title there would need to be a series of circumstances, but they are too big to be plausible,” the midfielder told the Corriere dello Sport.

“But Fiorentina are an organised club with the potential to be competitive, even if we still have to grow a lot.

“If I think back to the points we have dropped this season then I’ll go crazy…”

Fiorentina, who have already qualified for the knock-out stages of the Europa League, will travel to Udinese next.

“Nobody here should stop dreaming and I want to play here for as long as possible,” added the 36-year-old summer arrival from Milan.

“Perhaps qualifying for the Champions League and lifting a trophy – the Coppa Italia or the Europa League – would be perfect for us this term.”
