Gasperini demands victory

Genoa have improved under Gian Piero Gasperini and “a victory would be fundamental” against Verona.

Marassi hosts the first game of the day at 11.30 GMT, click here for a match preview.

“We are facing a side that has enthusiasm, so it will be tough and the statistics show they’ve won seven games already,” said the Coach in his Press conference.

“Luca Toni is an important player and was unlucky in his time here. I expect the team to improve further and a victory would be fundamental.”

Genoa have won three of their last four games, shocking Lazio 2-0 at the Olimpico.

“We cannot afford to get distracted, because we don’t have enough points to feel safe,” continued Gasperini.

“We have Francesco Lodi, Emanuele Calaiò and Sime Vrsaljko back, which gives us some more options. Lodi has dropped down the hierarchy a little, but he’s working to get back up there.”
