“We incredibly dropped points in the final minutes of the game on several occasions, so we could’ve been in a different position right now,” said Cerci.

“We deserved those points, so now are facing a great side like Inter and must remain concentrated to the very end.”

Cerci has been transformed from winger into striker this season at Torino and is surprisingly top of the Capocannoniere charts with six goals.

“It is wonderful to score goals, but I am not thinking about the Capocannoniere crown, even if I hope to be on top for as long as possible. I know full well it’ll be tough, as there are so many fantastic strikers in Serie A.”

The Toro man returned from international duty, having become a regular in Cesare Prandelli’s Italy squad.

“The World Cup is an important end-point for everyone, but I know that I need a great season with Torino to earn my place.”
