Palermo chief Maurizio Zamparini has welcomed new Inter owner Erick Thohir into the world of Italian football.

The Indonesian businessman is at the head of a consortium which has bought 70 per cent of the Nerazzurri for €250m.

“Cycles come to an end,” Zamparini told Tuttosport when asked about Massimo Moratti’s decision to sell a majority share of the club.

“A window has now opened for Italian football because funds are coming in from other countries,” added the Stadio Barbera President.

“Now I’m hoping that someone can come forward to take over from me. I too am looking for a successor for my club.

“I know that will not be easy, but Thohir could pave the way.”
