Marchisio keeping Roma close

Juventus’ Claudio Marchisio has underlined how important the win against Milan was on Sunday night. “We had to stay in touch with Roma.”

The Old Lady went into the game five points behind the Giallorossi given that the capital club have won all seven of their League games so far.

“Roma are currently doing positive things and have the advantage of not playing in Europe,” the midfielder noted.

“That’s why winning today was all the more important. It enabled us to stay in touch with them up top. We played well, we put in a good performance.”

The Turin giants did make things tough for themselves though after again falling a goal down – something which has haunted them so far this term.

“Tonight we conceded goals because of individual errors and because of a little misfortune,” added the 27-year-old.

“We can’t allow ourselves to be distracted, because the first mistake we make results in us conceding. We have to stay focused until the very end, we’ve seen that in the Champions League.

“Finding yourselves behind after 20 seconds doesn’t help, but once again we were capable of reacting strongly, overturning the deficit and clinching three vital points.

“We know that this season will be harder than in the past, but we will still give it a good go.”

Juventus will be away at Fiorentina in Week 8 once the international break is over.
