Montella: 'Lazio deserved more'

Vincenzo Montella admits Lazio “deserved something more” after his Fiorentina scraped a 0-0 in Rome.

“It is an important result and we take the point, even if Lazio did more and deserved something more,” the Coach told Sky Sport Italia.

“We tried to take the initiative, but we weren’t sharp enough tonight. The result is positive, because last season we wouldn’t even have managed that with this performance.

“The break comes at the right time, as we can get some players back from injury and rest others who haven’t had the chance. It’s no coincidence we lacked sharpness this evening.”

Mario Gomez and Ante Rebic are injured, while Giuseppe Rossi is not 100 per cent fit, so Montella was asked whether Fiorentina need another striker.

“Rebic was a big investment, but unfortunately he picked up an injury last week. We need to grow young players and people must realise the dynamics of each club.”
