“I can hardly believe I’m going to be playing here. Until a few years ago I was a regular in the Curva A with my friends, but this time I’ll be on the pitch,” said Schiattarella.

“Playing at the San Paolo has been my dream since I was a child and I’m feeling a thousand emotions. I keep imagining what it’ll feel like to walk up the steps to the field.

“I remain a big Napoli fan and, with Livorno’s Serie B games on a Saturday, I got to see many of their matches. The most recent I got to was last year’s 2-1 victory in Parma, with an Edinson Cavani winner.

“You can’t not be a Napoli fan in a city that lives on bread and football.”

Schiattarella’s whole family and many friends will be in the stands, all of them Napoli fans, of course!

“My favourite player is Marek Hamsik. Last year I even grew a mohican like him. I’ll meet him face to face and ask for his jersey. I hope he gives it to me.”
