Roberto Donadoni believes a defeat at Fiorentina “would’ve been harsh” on Parma after their thrilling 2-2 draw.

The Ducali had taken the lead at the Stadio Franchi last night, gone 2-1 down and Massimo Gobbi snatched an equaliser with the last kick of the game.

“To leave here with a defeat would’ve been harsh on my players,” said the Coach in his Press conference.

“We interpreted this game very well and should’ve had more belief when we were in front. Perhaps we had a little ‘fear of success’ in the second half.

“It was nonetheless a strong performance that gives us morale and confidence. It wasn’t just an issue of our naiveté, as we were facing a great team and are satisfied with how we played.”

Amauri was suspended, but Antonio Cassano was surprisingly substituted in the second half.

“Cassano did well and is improving along with his teammates. It will be a gradual progress and I wanted to preserve his fitness levels, seeing as we played twice this week.”
