Six Serie A players have been placed on stand-by for Chile’s World Cup qualifying matches in October.
A total of 21 foreign-based players are in contention to make the final squad for the ties against Colombia and Ecuador on October 11 and 15.
The Italian contingent is formed by Mauricio Isla (Juventus), David Pizarro (Fiorentina), Arturo Vidal (Juventus), Matías Fernández (Fiorentina), Mauricio Pinilla (Cagliari) and Carlos Carmona (Atalanta).
After 14 games, Chile are third in the standings behind Argentina and Colombia. They have won eight and lost six ties in qualifying so far.
