Samuel Eto’o has admitted that Jose Mourinho was the reason he left Anzhi to join Chelsea this summer.

The Cameroon international was heavily linked with a return to Inter during the transfer window, but opted instead for a reunion with his former Nerazzurri Coach.

And the striker has conceded that the Portuguese tactician was ’60 per cent’ the reason he signed for the west London team.

"I say thanks once again to God for giving me a season with him at Inter,” he told The Guardian.

“We both understand that we were born to win together, so it is a good thing.

“I see Jose Mourinho as a man and I know which things are true. I would say 60 per cent, with the rest being the great players who are there [at Chelsea] .The best group of players in the world."

"I must say that when I first met Mourinho, I never thought I was going to work with him.

“I got it wrong and if I am not mistaken, I believe I said that publicly."
