Italy Coach Cesare Prandelli has assured fans that his future will not become ‘a soap opera’ as speculation mounts who will replace him.

Reports over the past few weeks have claimed that the tactician will step down from his post after the 2014 World Cup.

Massimiliano Allegri, Roberto Mancini and Alberto Zaccherini have all been linked with the post, but Prandelli has insisted he does not want the issue to drag on for too much longer.

“My future? I can assure you that this issue will not become a soap opera,” he told reporters.

“We just want to equal what Marcelo Lippi did with the national team.

“Even if that target is far away, at this moment.”
