The latter is expected to return to club football after the 2014 World Cup and a number of men are already being linked as his successor.

“In Italy, we are masters of thinking about tomorrow without thinking about today,” Abete commented.

“Right now, we have two qualifiers against Bulgaria in Palermo tonight and then the Czech Republic in Turin on Tuesday.

“We must be focused on just these matches right now. There will be time in the future to expand on other things.”

Sky Sport Italia suggested earlier this week that the FIGC had already been in contact with Milan boss Massimiliano Allegri and Japan national Coach Alberto Zaccheroni.
