Cannavaro didn’t want Milan move

The agent of Paolo Cannavaro has confirmed his client had no intention of leaving Napoli for Milan on transfer deadline day.

“There was this offensive from Milan,” representative Gaetano Fedele told Ita Sport Press. “They offered Cristian Zaccardo to Napoli in exchange.

“However, Paolo wanted to remain in Azzurro and we hope he can become an integral part of the project.”

The centre-back was an untouchable member of Walter Mazzarri’s three-man defence last term, but he doesn’t seem to be in the prime thoughts of new boss Rafael Benitez.

The Spaniard has dropped the 32-year-old from the starting line-up since the new Serie A season began.
