Marek Hamsik says he expects to reach the goal target he was set by new Napoli boss Rafael Benitez at the start of the season.
The attacking midfielder has been in fine form by netting four goals in the first two weeks of the Serie A campaign.
“I’m delighted with how the term has begun,” he told the Corriere dello Sport. “Benitez has asked me to score 15 goals and I feel I can do that.”
Hamsik actually finds himself at the top of the Serie A scoring charts, but he doesn’t expect to be there for too much longer.
“I’m under no illusions,” he added. “It is nice to be the Capocannoniere, but the strikers will now wake up…”
Hamsik has grabbed 65 goals in 220 League games for the Azzurri. His best scoring season came in 2009-2010 when he netted 12 in 37 top-flight matches.
