In an unexpected twist, Lazio President Claudio Lotito claims he has “made no offer” for Galatasaray’s Burak Yilmaz.

Representatives from the Turkish club arrived in Rome this morning for advanced negotiations, though it’s reported there is still a gap of €5m between offer and asking price.

President Lotito spoke to the Corriere dello Sport outside the FIGC offices and insisted it had all been blown out of proportion.

“I don’t know if there was a meeting with the Turkish directors. Are we looking for a striker? We always are, as Lazio’s market is open all year, 24 hours a day.

“Galatasaray say there is a €5m difference? Then it means he’s negotiating with himself in a mirror. I have made no offer. We’ll see what happens.

“Don’t forget we already have Libor Kozak, who was top scorer in the Europa League last season. Who says he’s destined for Udinese” data-scaytid=”26″>Udinese?

“I am not set for a meeting with anyone. Lazio will never allow themselves to be conditioned by the media or fans for its signings. Today we have an extra-large squad that has to be reduced.”
