Dejan Stankovic admits he’s “emotional” ahead of today’s wave goodbye to Inter fans at San Siro.

The midfielder terminated his contract by mutual consent just shy of his 35th birthday and is still considering his future.

“I am a bit emotional, as 10 years is a lot,” he told Mediaset Premium.

Stankovic will walk round San Siro in a lap of honour ahead of today’s Serie A match against Genoa, having scored 40 gols in 315 official games for Inter.

“I sweated for this jersey and entered into the history books of the club. It is not my final goodbye to Inter, though it is my farewell to the pitch.”

The Serbia international is expected to take up a job behind the scenes, where former teammate Ivan Cordoba is already team manager.

“What will I do from tomorrow? For the moment I’ll rest.”
