Mario Balotelli has become the first non US-based soccer player to appear on the front cover of Sports Illustrated.

The Milan and Italy striker appears with a lengthy interview in the new edition of the magazine.

The story calls him “the most interesting man in the world (soccer edition), by turns a national hero and the target of national prejudice.”

This honour follows on from Balotelli being named one of Time Magazine’s 100 most influential people in the world.
