Walter Mazzarri notes Inter have a “dangerous game” in the Coppa Italia against Cittadella on Sunday.

The Third Round tie is at San Siro, kicking off at 17.30 UK time, and will be his first as a Coach in the legendary Scala del Calcio.

“The thing that came to me instinctively was to ask Diego Milito which one was our bench,” joked the former Napoli boss.

“I have been in this stadium many times, but it really will take some getting used to being on the other side. It’s a wonderful, wonderful sensation.

“Now that I can look at the stands without the tension and pathos of a game being played, you can tell how much motivation and emotion San Siro gives you.”

Inter are the overriding favourites in this fixture, as Cittadella are in Serie B, but Mazzarri believes that can be a boomerang.

“This is a dangerous game full of hidden traps and pitfalls. It arrives just before the start of the season, when we still haven’t played a match for three points.

“Aside from who we are facing, there is the subconscious risk of underestimating them. I told the lads not to forget that last season Cittadella were knocked out of the Coppa at the last second by Catania.

“August matches can hold many dangers, so we must step on to the pitch aware of this and prove we are concentrated in every aspect to bring the result home.”

New buy Rolando is in the side and Mateo Kovacic returns from injury, but Chelsea loaner Wallace is not ready yet.

“Some lads are more tired than others, especially those who were on international duty this week. Rodrigo Palacio was particularly tired and did not play the game between ranks today.

“Fatigue must not be used as an alibi, as the players need to rest well at night, work with the doctors and perform in a game that is worth passage to the next round.”
