Ezequiel Lavezzi has wished international teammate Gonzalo Higuain well after he completed his move to Napoli.

The striker has been netted from Real Madrid as a replacement for Edinson Cavani, who now joins up with former Napoli forward Lavezzi at Paris Saint-Germain.

“I’ve spoken a bit with Gonzalo, he’ll do his best there,” Lavezzi, who spent five years at the Stadio San Paolo, told Sky Sport Italia.

“I hope that he does better than I did at Napoli and that he is loved more than I was.

“I really liked living in Naples. It is a city that is similar to ones in Argentina. I didn’t find a great deal of difference when I arrived and I instantly settled.”

The Azzurri have spent big this summer which has led to the belief that new boss Rafael Benitez has been put in charge of a Scudetto contender.

“Only time will tell if Napoli can fight for the title, but a lot of good players have arrived and they have a good team,” Lavezzi added.

“Let us hope that the strength of the squad comes through in games.”

Juventus will start the season as favourites though after they netted Carlos Tevez from Manchester City.

“I hope both Higuain and Tevez do well,” Il Pocho noted. “They are Argentine and it would be great if they both have good seasons, but I hope Gonzalo does better…”
