Italian newspapers have put forth a list of forwards to act as Mario Balotelli’s understudy in the squad, especially as Robinho and Giampaolo Pazzini are injured.

The candidates include Roma’s Borriello and Maxi Lopez of Catania, both of whom are former Milan players.

Bayern Munich’s 34-year-old Peruvian hitman Pizarro and former Torino winger Jonathas are also options.

However, it is also rumoured that Coach Allegri (who turns 46 today) rejected all proposals and warned the Rossoneri not to buy any more forwards for such a small role.

He has faith in youth team player Andrea Petagna, who impressed in pre-season.
