Eden Hazard has thanked Roma Coach Rudi Garcia for aiding his career ahead of tonight’s Chelsea match.

The two clubs go head-to-head in Washington DC, kicking off at 00.45 UK time in a pre-season friendly.

Hazard is expected to start for the Blues against his former Lille mentor.

“We had four years together and won two trophies, the Ligue 1 and the Cup in the same season, the Double,” Hazard told Chelseafc.com.

“He is a very good Coach, still quite young and a very nice guy. He was very good for me because I was very young and he showed me the right way to be, and gave me lots of confidence in my ability.

“It’s good for him to have another challenge at Roma; he did well with Lille and now wants to further his career at a big club.

“It is the last friendly, then we go to the national teams and the championship starts,” continued the 22-year-old Belgian international.

“It is a big game because we want to win and be ready for the next game. The result is not the most important thing but we want to continue to be better.”
