Milan boss Massimiliano Allegri is happy with his side’s pre-season progress despite the 2-0 loss to Chelsea in America.

“We perhaps gave too much away to Chelsea in the first half, but I’m happy with the performance of the lads,” he noted.

“The side played well against an excellent team. It was a good test and a step forward in respect to the previous games we have played.

“Our physical condition is improving.

“We have to improve on certain areas of our game, but that is only normal. We gave away too many counter-attacks and that is something which needs to be avoided.

“However, games like this, of a certain level, are important. They are the best preparation possible for the preliminaries of the Champions League.”
