Prandelli opens door for Cassano

Italy boss Cesare Prandelli insists Antonio Cassano could still have a future with the national side.

The forward was a stable part of Prandelli’s plans between 2010 and 2012, but he hasn’t been selected since appearing in the Final of Euro 2012.

“We are constantly keeping Cassano under observation,” the Azzurri CT told Sky Sport Italia. “He has to show his qualities and, above all, prove that he is calm.”

The 31-year-old, 10 goals in 35 caps for his country, will be playing for Parma in 2013-14 after leaving Inter last month.

The former Fiorentina boss was also asked for his opinion on what he expects to witness once Serie A kicks off.

“I’m curious to see Napoli, a club who have bought with intelligence this summer,” Prandelli commented.

“Juventus have an extraordinary Coach in Antonio Conte and they have reinforced even further on the transfer market.

“Inter, meanwhile, can do well under Walter Mazzarri because he gets his teams to play good football and he always transmits character to his sides.”
