Fiorentina officials are delighted with the message that their signing of Mario Gomez has sent out.
The Viola have impressed by netting the German international striker from European champions Bayern Munich.
“The arrival of a champion like Gomez confirms how strong our club is,” sporting director Daniele Prade commented.
“The owners of this club will allow us to take on Goliath on equal terms.”
Technical director Eduardo Macia added: “Few dreams come true in life, but this one has been realised thanks to Mario and the hard work of everybody involved.
“Now we can look to the future with optimism.”
Gomez, 28, is understood to have cost the Tuscan club an initial €15.5m. That could rise by a further €5.5m if certain bonus clauses are activated.
Around 23,000 fans turned up at the Stadio Franchi on Monday to welcome the player to the club.
