Santos President Luis Alvaro de Oliveira has told reporters that the club will not be held to ransom over a move for Robinho.

The Corriere dello Sport claimed this morning that the Rossoneri have come to an agreement with Japan international Keisuke Honda, but for that to be completed, they must first sell the Brazilian attacker.

Santos look to be the most likely destination for the former Real Madrid man. But the team's chief has insisted that they will not pay over the odds.

“We will not go mad for Robinho,” he said to journalists. “We cannot accept demands that are incompatible with our reality.

“The distance between us at the moment is very large.”
