Chivu intends to stay at Inter

Cristian Chivu’s agent says he knows nothing of reports that Inter want to rescind his client’s contract.

The Nerazzurri are looking to cut costs and getting Chivu off the wage bill is one option that is understood to be under consideration.

“Inter haven’t contacted me to discuss such a possibility,” representative Victor Becali told TMW on Friday afternoon.

“Cristian still has a year left on his current contract with Inter and he intends to respect that agreement.”

The Romanian defender, 32, featured in just 15 games for the club last term after struggling with injuries.

He signed a new two-year deal with the Beneamata only last summer.
