Mexico tactician Manuel De La Torre feels that a moment of magic from Mario Balotelli was the only reason for Italy’s 2-1 win.
The Azzurri beat the Mexicans in Rio on Sunday as the two sides began their Confederations Cup campaign.
“We lost because of Balotelli,” the tactician told the Gazzetta dello Sport. “It was only that bit of play from him which made the difference.
“Up until that goal, I did not see a great deal of difference between Mexico and Italy.”
The Azzurri will play Japan on Wednesday, while the Mexicans’ next tie will be against tournament hosts Brazil.
