The Azzurrini qualified for Tuesday’s Final in Jerusalem by defeating Holland 1-0 with a Fabio Borini strike.

“In football you can be under pressure and we showed that we have character,” forward Gabbiadini told Rai Sport.

“You can really see the strength of a squad during moments of difficulty and that is what made the difference for us.

“Spain are strong, but we will try to beat them with our humility.”

Gabbiadini was expected to start against the Netherlands, but only came off the bench for the last half-hour.

“We are all at a very high level, we all want to do well and work our hardest. Now we must only focus on victory.”

The European Under-21 Championship Final against Spain is on Tuesday at 17.00 UK time (16.00 GMT).
