Giulio Donati admits Italy “knew we’d be under pressure” against Holland, but earned their Final spot with Spain.

The Azzurrini beat the Netherlands 1-0 in the European Under-21 Championship semi-final last night.

“We ran into a lot of problems, but they are a great team and we never gave in,” said the Inter-owned defender.

“We knew we’d be under pressure, but we stayed solid and then Fabio Borini gave us this great joy.

“It is a hugely satisfying result and we are all happy, as each of us cheers on the other. This is an extraordinary group of players.

“When you run out of petrol, there is always the reserve tank. I ran hard, but I put my heart into it. The team puts me in a condition to give my best.

“Now our heads must already go forward to Spain.”

Italy face trophy holders Spain in Jerusalem on Tuesday at 17.00 UK time (16.00 GMT). La Roja are unbeaten so far and swept Norway aside 3-0 in the other semi-final.
