Pasquale Marino is in pole position to be handed the Pescara job after Zdenek Zeman ruled out a return.
The relegated outfit had offered the bench back to Zeman, a Coach who led them to Serie A promotion in 2012.
However, the Czech 4-3-3 tactician, sacked by Roma in February, has turned down the opportunity of a second spell with the outfit.
His refusal has thus opened the door for Marino, another attack-minded boss for an outfit that is targeting a quick return to the top flight.
Marino, formerly of clubs such as Catania, Udinese and Parma, hasn’t worked since he was sacked by Genoa in April 2012.
