Alessandro Del Piero will be heading out to Brazil for the Confederations Cup, having signed on as a television commentator.

The former Italy international, who was part of the 2006 World Cup-winning squad, has today been confirmed as having joined Sky Sport Italia’s commentary team for this summer.

The Juventus” data-scaytid=”2″>Juventus legend, who is now based in Australia, will be part of the channel’s Confederations Cup coverage from mid-June.

“I am very happy for this new role that I will cover,” Del Piero told reporters at the announcement of the news, before reflecting on life in Australia and his recent visit back to Italy.

 “The passion for football is with me forever. In Australia, apart from the weather, I am very happy.

“Returning to Turin has been nice. I have found friends and certain habits. My great habit here in Turin? To stay at home.

“I was pleasantly surprised by the Juventus fans’ affection towards me during the Scudetto party.

“The relationship with them has remained unique. I’m very happy about that.”
