La Gazzetta dello Sport claims Chelsea stepped forward with an official approach for the Uruguayan hitman who topped the Serie A scorers charts this season.

Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentiis has stated he’ll only release him for the €63m buy-out clause, but it’s possible he would accept a player as part of an exchange.

Talks have already begun with Manchester City for a Torres-Edin Dzeko exchange, so Chelsea would include Torres as part of the bid.

However, the most likely destination for Cavani remains Real Madrid, as the player never disguised his fondness for the club and would prefer La Liga to the Premier League.
