Hellas Verona return to the top flight after 11 years and Coach Andrea Mandorlini said “it’s about time!”

The Gialloblu earned automatic promotion in second place behind Sassuolo” data-scaytid=”26″>Sassuolo thanks to a 0-0 draw with Empoli” data-scaytid=”27″>Empoli this afternoon.

“It’s about time!” grinned Mandorlini. “Only three years ago we were in Lega Pro, last season we went out in the promotion play-offs, so finally we are now in Serie A.

“We did well this term and the credit goes to everyone, as it’s hard to single someone out for thanks.

“I do have one special dedication and that is for ex-President Giovanni Martinelli.”

Martinelli was at the helm from 2009 to March 2013, when he sold the remaining shares to current patron Maurizio Setti.

Verona play at the Stadio Bentegodi, so next term we’ll be able to see a Serie A derby with Chievo.
