Former Roma boss Zdenek Zeman has claimed that Mario Balotelli is 'booed because of his attitude, not the colour of his skin'.
The Milan forward was the victim of racial abuse by Giallorossi fans during their 0-0 draw at San Siro last Sunday.
But the Coach, who was fired from his position at Stadio Olimpico in January, believes that the young forward's controversial nature is why supporters are targeting him.
“I am a man of Rome,” he told RTL 102.5. “I have been here for 20 years and the people have always shown me love.
“I can only thank them - not only the fans of Roma, but also Lazio.
“The problem is not the colour of the skin, but the behaviour. If a player performs well, nothing happens.
“They did not whistle Balotelli because of his skin colour, but his attitude. He can be controversial at times.”
