Andrea Stramaccioni is determined to look on the bright side after Inter’s 0-0 draw with Genoa. “We’re clinging to Fredy Guarin.”

The Nerazzurri had lost seven of the previous nine rounds, so were pleased enough with a point at Marassi.

“The team is growing in terms of ball control. The lads played with character against a Genoa side in good shape,” insisted the Coach.

“Over the last few games we have improved in terms of performance. In the second half Antonio Cassano’s return from injury was useful, as it made us more unpredictable.”

Stramaccioni shot down rumours that Guarin is considering a move away from Inter this summer.

“Guarin is an extraordinary player who combines physicality with technique in an incredible way. He is also an important element in the locker room, so we can build a fine midfield around him. We are certainly clinging to him tight.

“We have clear ideas for the future and I have faith.”

As things stand, Inter are in ninth place behind Catania, which would mean starting the Coppa Italia from August.
