Andrea Stramaccioni admits he is speechless after a 3-1 home defeat to Lazio in which Ricky Alvarez slipped while taking a penalty.

“It’s not easy to comment on a game like this, because we lost 3-1 and even Vladimir Petkovic will confirm Inter deserved to get something out of it,” said the Coach.

“We suffered yet another injury, a missed penalty, we hit the woodwork and then Eddy Onazi scored a stunning goal.

“Even in our current condition, we tried to play the game and take the initiative right to the end. I saw an improvement in terms of performance.”

Inter are now out of the running for Europe, as they are in eighth place and five points adrift of Roma and Lazio.

“The fans applauded us and therefore realised these lads gave their all for the jersey. We are so determined to pay them back with results on the field, though clearly that’ll have to be from next season,” added Stramaccioni.

“We just have to end the campaign as best we can, then sooner or later luck will turn our way.”

Alvarez summed up Inter’s moment when he slipped while taking a penalty, ballooning it over the bar.

“It has happened to other champions too. He had sent the goalkeeper the wrong way, but then unfortunately lost his footing.

“The errors from Alvarez and Samir Handanovic really are Inter’s current problems in a microcosm, as things keep going wrong.”
