Inter incredibly have yet another injury, as after losing Javier Zanetti today, Matias Silvestre was diagnosed with a thigh strain.

Silvestre had a rare start in the 1-0 defeat to Palermo and his howler gifted Josip Ilicic with the decisive goal.

The defender underwent tests after the match and the official Inter website confirmed a second degree right thigh strain.

This means he is out for the rest of the season, while captain Zanetti is sidelined for around eight months after snapping his left Achilles tendon.

The injury crisis at Inter has reached extraordinary levels, as the absentees are now Diego Milito, Rodrigo Palacio, Antonio Cassano, Esteban Cambiasso, Yuto Nagatomo, Dejan Stankovic, Walter Gargano, Fredy Guarin, Walter Samuel, Gaby Mudingayi, Joel Obi, Ibrahima Mbaye, Luca Castellazzi, Zanetti and Silvestre.

The vast majority of those are muscular injuries, leading some to suggest the problem lies within Inter’s fitness regime.
